90 Degree Chai

Origin and Characteristics
90 Degree Chai was born in the Arizona desert - where apparently even our chai needed a little heat.

We took our classic Travelers Chai, inspired by traditional Indian masala chai and built around bold black tea and whole warming spices, and added just enough chili to change the finish without taking over the cup.

The result is a full-bodied loose leaf chai that tastes like chai first. The heat comes later - a gentle kick on the back end that makes you want another sip.

Flavor Profile
Bold - warming - spiced - slightly sweet - gentle chili finish

Expect the familiar warmth of cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and clove layered over rich black tea, followed by a subtle chili warmth that slowly makes itself known.

Heat level - 🌶️

Ingredients
100% organic black tea, 100% organic cinnamon, 100% organic fennel seed, 100% organic ginger, 100% organic anise, 100% organic cardamom, 100% organic cloves, 100% organic black peppercorns, Chili.

Health Benefits*
This chai blend offers a powerhouse of antioxidants and wellness-supporting ingredients. Black tea promotes heart, gut, and immune health while reducing stress. Cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, fennel, and black peppercorns all provide anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and blood sugar–balancing properties. Ginger and anise support digestion and immunity, while fennel and cardamom enhance respiratory and hormonal balance. Together, these spices aid circulation, boost focus and energy, and promote overall well-being. Chili peppers also naturally contain capsaicin, the compound responsible for their characteristic heat.

Preparation of 90 Degree Chai:

In a pot, bring water to just to the boil, reduce to simmer, add tea, approximately one teaspoon of the tea in about 8 ounces of water, and simmer for around 3 - 4 minutes.

Add milk in a ratio of about 1/4 milk (of choice) to 3/4 water and simmer for an additional two minutes. Strain the mixture to remove the tea leaves before adding any sweeteners according to personal preference.

Tea & Hammock Tip

Try it iced. Brew your 90 Degree Chai a little stronger, pour it over ice and add your favorite milk. The cold softens the initial spice while letting the little chili kick sneak up at the end.

And if you think you don't like spicy drinks, start here. 90 Degree Chai was designed to be chai first, heat second,
