Desert Blossom Loose Leaf Green Tea

FLAVOR PROFILE
Earthy roasted aroma, smooth texture with a light woody, chocolate flavor. When sweetened it tastes similar to toasted marshmallows.

BREW - TEA & HAMMOCK TIPS
To brew Desert Blossom tea the water should not exceed 185 degrees for the first brew, after which you may brew the tea with warmer water up to 205 degrees. Steep 2 tsp tea per 8oz of water for 2-3 minutes. You can infuse the tea 2-3 times.

ORIGIN
Have you tasted the scent of the Arizona desert? Kukicha, is the branches and stems from the tea plants usually used to make Matcha and Sencha tea. They are dried and then allowed to age for approximately two years. Then roasted slowly so it develops its distinctive flavor and aroma. The tea is then blended locally with dried flowers picked by hand from the desert.

INGREDIENTS
Organic kukicha (twig tea), cactus flowers/prickly pear flowers

Jasmine Pearls Loose Leaf Green Tea

FLAVOR PROFILE
Jasmine Pearls tea offers a unique tasting experience characterized by its smooth texture, gorgeous floral aroma, sweet undertones that complement the green tea base.

BREW - TEA & HAMMOCK TIPS
To brew Jasmine Pearls effectively:

The temperature of the water should be under boiling (185ºF). If the water is too hot it will scald the tea and produce a bitter flavor. You can add the pearls directly into a teapot or cup, steep for about 2-3 minutes using approximately 2 teaspoons (apx 20 pearls) of tea per 8 oz cup. The whole leaves sink to the bottom which makes it easy to pour and sip. This tea is good for 2 – 3 infusions.

The brew typically has a pale orange color and is appreciated for its refined taste that is clean across the palate. Due to its medium caffeine content, it can serve as an alternative to coffee while providing additional health benefits associated with green tea consumption.

ORIGIN
Jasmine Pearls tea, also known as Jasmine Dragon Phoenix Pearls, is a high-grade green tea that originates from the Fujian region of China. This tea is renowned for its exquisite flavor and aroma, which results from a meticulous process of hand-picking and scenting the tea leaves with fresh jasmine flowers. The leaves are carefully shaped into small pearls that unfurl when steeped, releasing their rich jasmine bouquet. “It takes at least 2000 pearls to make one pound of tea. The rolled pearls are then heat infused with jasmine flowers several times to achieve the desired strength of aroma. High grade Jasmine Pearls undergo this process at least five times.”

In addition to its delightful taste and health benefits, Jasmine Pearls have cultural significance in Chinese tea traditions. The art of making this tea reflects centuries-old practices that emphasize quality and craftsmanship.

Lotus Loose Leaf Green Tea

FLAVOR PROFILE
Floral, vegetal

BREW - TEA & HAMMOCK TIP
To brew Lotus tea the water should not exceed 185 degrees as it will scald the tea. Steep 2 tsp tea per 8oz of water for 2-3 minutes. You can infuse the tea 2-3 times.

ORIGIN
Lotus tea is a diverse category of infusions made from various parts of the lotus plant, including leaves, flowers, roots, seeds, and embryos. Each type of lotus tea has its unique preparation methods and potential health benefits.

Our Lotus tea is “grown in the northern province of Thai Nguyen in Vietnam, Che Sen, or Lotus tea, is a fine green tea infused with the aroma of lotus flower blossoms.”

Love this story “King Tu Duc, during the Nguyen dynasty in the ancient capital of Hue on the central coast (1848-1883), was renowned for drinking lotus-scented tea in a very special way. In the afternoon, those who worked for him would row to a lotus-growing lake in the royal garden where they would put a small handful of tea into each lotus blossom and then bind the petals around the tea. The tea would dry inside the flower overnight while absorbing the scent of the petals. The next morning the tea would be picked from the lotus lake and offered to the king for his morning refreshment. This old-style method of scenting tea is now rare (called Lotus Ancien)”.

Here at Tea and Hammock, we enjoy the flavor of these two so much that we provide you with a blend which gives you the ultimate experience of Lotus tea while keeping the cost down.
